What is the Hope Movement?
It started with a little girl at church wearing a yellow button with the words "IT'S GOING TO BE OK" 2020 was a hard year for everyone. Our Executive Director took that button and the smile that little girl gave as a beacon of hope.
The Calgary Dream Centre, forced to close its doors to public walk-ins, volunteers, facility tours and material donations due to the 1st wave of COVID-19. The Summer was looking bleak but with drive, a quick-thinking pivot and a beacon of hope, The I CHOOSE HOPE Campaign was created. From buttons to lawn signs, to billboards and food truck partnerships, the campaign raised over 200K. A successful campaign in the midst of the economic world shutting down.
This year, we've levelled it up. The HOPE MOVEMENT brings the first annual run, walk & cycle event. A campaign designed for the people and by the people. It is you that drives this campaign and it is you that gives hope and support to the brothers and sisters that call the Calgary Dream Centre, a home.

Do I have to choose one of the options for challenges?
Yes, you do. Let's challenge one another! Select with the option you feel is attainable goal and start from there. You can always change your goal later on. Remember, we are here to help you, so if you find yourself needing a little motivation, send us a quick DM or email and we'll be your cheerleaders!
How do I track my progress & share it?
You’ve complete your steps, walked a few extra feet, ran a few extra kilometres or cycled a few extra hills and now you want to show it off - as you should!
We are encouraging participants to log their movement in the following ways:
- Your Fit Log! You can find it on your fundraising dashboard. Think of your Fit Log as your blog. You can log your distance, post photos, and share Facebook, Instagram and TikTok videos, or just write a little something about your movement efforts (and thoughts).
- Post your run, walk or cycling on social media! I know it can seem daunting, but so many of your supporters want to see you move and reach that goal. By posting it on your social media using #iChooseHope, #HopeMovement and tagging us @yycdreamcentre you can be featured on our Leader Board as well as connecting to the Hope Movement community!
